The old five

Leamington completed a clinical 5-0 demolition of Dunstable Town at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium this afternoon. Unfortunately, Chippenham beat Merthyr 3-1 to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

An early stinging shot from the visitors tested Tony Breeden who made a good save at the expense of a corner. The antics of young visiting keeper Jack Smith drew shouts of 'Tony Breeden' from the crowd as he played outside of his area.

Courtney Baker-Richardson opened the scoring with a shot that looked as it might have been a cross, but it found the back of the net. Brakes were then awarded a penalty calmly dispatched by Rob Thompson-Brown. An own goal by hapless Dunstable No. 3 Gedeon Okito then made it 3-0 before the break.

An error by the keeper allowed Jack Edwards to make it 4-0 into an empty net. A shot from distance by Richard Taundry from distance that scythed along the ground then made it 5-0.

Jamie Hood put in some excellent defensive work and new signing Kurtis Revan put in some excellent passes when he came on as a substitute.

When Dunstable's Harry Bean had to go off after a coughing fit his replacement did not look at all keen to come on. Dunstable had only brought three substitutes and it was joked that it was the coach driver.

Great fight back by Brakes

Leamington staged a great fight back against Redditch United at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium tonight to win 2-1. The home side took a sucker punch in the third minute when the visitors broke from a Brakes corner and Danilo Johnson was given the space to score with a header. Breeden didn't seem too happy with the lino.

The Redditch keeper then made a great save from Jack Edwards and Breeden made a good stop to keep Brakes in the match.

Gudger replaced Tom James at half time because if injury. When Taundry came on in place of Lilly he made a real difference, commanding the midfield and positioning himself well to influence the game. Redditch increasingly resorted to fouls and received a number of yellow cards.

On 64 minutes Rowe equalised from a corner. This revitalised Brakes and Hood then made it 2-1 in a goalmouth scramble.

The Harbury Lane end kept up a chant of 'You can stick your Ferrari up your ****' as Brakes defended their lead with vigour.

Leamington are fourth, two points behind new leaders Slough Town.

Attendance was 408 and one dog.

Brakes fight for victory

In a highly competitive match at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium tonight Leamington fought for a 3-2 victory over Kettering Town in front of a crowd of 545 and one dog.

After good work on the left involving Taundry and Moore, the ball was played into Jack Edwards on four minutes who put the Brakes 1-0 ahead with a good strike. Breeden made a great save to keep Leamington in the game. He was then in trouble when he challenged an attacker outside the area, but he was not the last man and the referee, after consulting his linesman, gave a yellow card. Breeden then got into trouble with the referee for time wasting.

Ogleby then got a yellow card for a foul. Kettering were keeping up the pressure and the ball had to be cleared off the line. Then on 35 minutes Brakes advanced down the left, finding plenty of space and Richard Taundry made it 2-0 with an excellent goal from a curling free kick.

HT 2-0

Things then went wrong early in the second half when Saul Williams scored for Kettering with a ball along the ground which was difficult to save. Kettering were then awarded a penalty which was duly dispatched. Ben Mackey then made it 3-2 on 63 minutes, making use of an angled pass from Ogleby. Both sides had half chances in the remainder of the game, but Brakes held on to take all three points.
